Drupal 11 December Release is Fast Approaching
GovCMS is gearing up to release its D11 distribution at the end of this year. We know this isn’t far away, so behind the scenes we are working on what this entails for you and your websites.
Drupal’s release schedule gives a sneak-peek of indicative timings for future Drupal releases. GovCMS has planned the D11 roadmap with the aim of helping you plan early for the migration ahead.
What’s coming next?
The next key project milestone in preparation will be the Drupal Core 10.5 previews.
Key changes
Key changes to note include adding the Book module and removing technical debt. You can review the full list in the D11 readiness Knowledge Base article.
On the front-foot
The best way you can prepare for the D11 upgrade is to review your website and remove legacy technical debt. By now you should have heard from us through our raising of proactive tickets for impacted websites. If you haven’t heard from us, or are unsure if you are affected, get in touch and we’ll confirm if any of the listed modules form part of your website.
Info sessions are back!
We’re ramping up our online info sessions on D11. We’ll walk you through the stages and changes and to provide a space to Ask Us Anything! The next one will be on Wednesday 9 July 2025. Keep an eye on the D11 section for the meeting details. The meeting invite will be in GovCMS GovTEAMS so the whole community will automatically get an invite. It’s only an hour but will give you peace of mind about all things D11 upgrades.
If you are new to this, or are unsure of where to start, we are here to help – get in touch as soon as possible.
If you are planning to incorporate upgrade support from a developer, don’t forget that last year we added new suppliers to the Whole of Government Drupal Services Panel. There are currently 31 suppliers on this panel with the necessary skills and expertise to help you move to D11.
The team at GovCMS is ready to support you. Get in touch to discuss your plans or if you need help getting started.
