D9 October update

Tuesday 19 October 2021

A big thank you to the whole community. Over the past six months we’ve seen all GovCMS SaaS Drupal 8 websites make the move to Drupal 9. This has been a massive feat and we appreciate the community’s willingness to get onboard, help us and help each other.

The journey has been long, but we made it. We are grateful for your patience and are excited to see where Drupal 9 will take us.

If you’ve recently made the switch to Drupal 9 and you have feedback on your transition, or any lingering questions, let us know.

Drupal 8 (D8) PaaS customers

There is less than one month before D8 reaches end of life. If you are a D8 PaaS customer with a question or would just like a helping hand, please reach out. D8 will reach end-of-life on 2 November 2021. After this date, GovCMS will no longer host D8 websites on the platform as there will be no Drupal security coverage for D8.

Drupal 7 (D7) customers

We understand many of our D7 customers are already making plans to transition to D9 in late 2021 or early 2022. We will be in touch soon so that when you’re ready to make the switch, the team here has everything lined up. Compared to upgrading a D8 site to D9, migrating from D7 to D9 involves a few more steps, including moving to a new project on the hosting platform.

GovCMS established the first group of 8 suppliers on our Whole of Government GovCMS Drupal Services Panel on 1 October 2021. If you would like to use one of these suppliers for your migration from D7 to D9, visit our Drupal Services Panel page.
