Case Study: The Three Musketeers

Tuesday 10 August 2021

The Regional Investment Corporation (RIC) may only have three people managing their website, but that doesn’t stop them doing a lot with it. The RIC website is their organisation’s single source of truth for customers and staff, so the team is continuously updating their website with their latest products and changes.

“As soon as we know of a change, we update it straight away. Our website is always factored into our critical planning. Our product isn’t launched until it is on the website.”

But it wasn’t always this easy. The original design for the RIC website wasn’t optimised for the way they work. However, through iteration, the RIC team have had their website redesigned in a way that suited them, and supported them to manage their website without an in-house development team. Allowing them to make updates to their website in real time.

“Consumers of a product and services expect us to deliver our product digitally first. Every service you are seeing has the digital expectation of being able to log on at any time and source the required information they need. In our case, it starts with the application process. We aim to hold ourselves accountable for meeting the standards of what people expect.”

The team at RIC were surprised at how easy the redesign process was, and how simple the backend usability of Drupal can be with the right training. But they also agreed that it was good to know that GovCMS has their back if something did go wrong.

Since the move to the GovCMS platform in May 2019, the team at RIC have received overwhelmingly positive feedback about their website. While their own team’s favourite aspect of their website is its homepage, you can make your own judgement by visiting www.ric.gov.au
