What time is it? Time to move your D7 website to D9!
What time is it? Time to move your Drupal 7 (D7) website to Drupal 9 (D9). There are only 3 months left until D7 is retired from the GovCMS distribution. We encourage all of our D7 customers to make the move to D9 by November 2022 as soon as they can. If you need some guidance on where to start, or feel like you're stuck in mud, please get in touch at your earliest convenience.
Making the move from D7 to D9 requires a full website rebuild on D9. This is a big process and means changes need to be made to the hosting platform and a new project set up for your migrated site to use.
If you are a SaaS D7 customer unable to move your website to D9 by November 2022, you will need to be move to PaaS hosting. This means associated PaaS costs will be incurred and passed on to your agency. Maintaining a PaaS website involves a lot more effort for you, as you are responsible for your own security patching and updates. If you don’t maintain a PaaS website properly, you may expose your site to potential security risks and jeopardise the stability of your website. To ensure your website stays on the SaaS platform, you need to make the move to D9 before November 2022. If you stay on the SaaS platform GovCMS will continue to look after the security maintenance and updates for you.
