GovCMS Projects Update
What a year it’s been! There have been multiple updates to the GovCMS platform and we are always looking at different ways to improve. We look forward to venturing into the new year with you, as we continue to update and grow as a platform.
Drupal 9
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has already moved to Drupal 9 (D9). It has been a long journey, but we are well over half way there!
We are aiming to migrate all Drupal 7 (D7) customers to D9 by the end August 2022. This is to allow for some contingency if required. D7 will reach end of life on 28 November 2022. GovCMS will no longer support D7 websites as there is minimal security coverage.
We know that moving from D7 to D9 requires a few extra steps and may require a helping hand. If you would like support with migrating from D7 to D9, please contact us or visit our moving from D7 to D9 page.
There are now 16 suppliers on GovCMS Drupal Services Panel (DSP). Our GovCMS DSP was created to help you help yourself. Visit our accessing the Drupal Services Panel page to find out more information.
We would love to hear about all the amazing things you are building with your website. Please get in touch, if you would like to share your feedback or your GovCMS Drupal 9 experience.
EKS
GovCMS have provisioned the new infrastructure built on Amazon EKS that hosts all websites on the GovCMS platform.
The move from RedHat OpenShift to Amazon EKS will allow GovCMS to deploy sites more efficiently, and better manage containerised applications.
The migration began in early October 2021 and was aimed to be finished by mid-December 2021.
The final migration of websites to the new infrastructure occurred on Saturday, 11 December.
What do I do now my website has moved over to EKS?
- Tidy up redundant feature branches
If you have any questions about the new architecture, please reach out or watch last month’s EKS Q&A.
