GovCMS Invites You to Preview the Next Upcoming Major Release for Drupal Core 10.5.x

Thursday 3 July 2025

GovCMS is preparing for the next major D10 Drupal Core release from 10.4.x to 10.5.x. We are planning to create the Preview branches after Drupal core 10.5.1 is released. At this stage, the previews will likely be in August 2025. You will be informed of the confirmed date so please look out for it!. This allows enough time for your User Testing before Drupal Core 10.4.x reaches end of life in December 2025.

SaaS customers will need to preview how the changes will affect your website. Your preview feature branch will be available for 4 weeks. We will create a service desk ticket for each SaaS project to track the preview progress.

You will be able to access the preview/govcms_update environment via the projects dashboard. This branch will not count towards your maximum number of environments in your project. You will need to prioritise checking your website, as this will alert you to any issues when 10.5.x is applied. Ensure you check the functionality of your website including theme, webforms and integration with external services. The Drupal Core change will not affect your website's content.

Consult your developers if any functionality in the preview feature branch isn’t working. We will create a service desk ticket for each SaaS project to keep in touch regarding your preview progress. Preview branch support documentation is published in the Service Desk Knowledge Base.

We encourage PaaS customers to assess, plan and address this core upgrade as it pertains to your distribution. If you use the GovCMS D10 distribution, you will be able to follow the same steps that we used and apply it to your distribution.

After Drupal Core 10.4.x reaches end of life in December 2025 it will no longer be covered by Drupal Security.
