GovCMS D9 invites you to preview upcoming major releases
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and providing an up-to-date secure and trusted service, we are changing the way we approach major distribution releases for our SaaS community.
Prior to each major distribution release, we will be inviting our SaaS community to preview, in a feature branch, how the changes will affect your website. This branch will not count towards the maximum number of environments in your project.
The first major release for 2022 will be the upgrade of Drupal Core from 9.2 to 9.3. This preview was available between 7-18 March 2022 to check the functionality of your site including theme, webforms and integration with external services.
Updating the distribution to Drupal Core 9.3 is scheduled for the release GovCMS D9 2.12.0 on 4 April 2022, with deployments commencing 6 April 2022. This is the first major change to the GovCMS distribution for 2022. Once Drupal Core 9.2.x reaches end of life in July 2022 it will no longer be covered by Drupal Security.
The next major change is proposed to be the upgrade to PHP 8. That preview window is planned for 11 April to 6 May 2022. Again, we will be asking you to preview how the update will affect your website; and to the functionality of your site including theme, webforms and integration with external services
In preparation, we recommend coordinating resources for this preview for 11 April to 6 May 2022. It is the responsibility of the agency to work with their developers and service providers to rectify any issues during this time.
