Engagement from the Community Sprint

Tuesday 29 March 2022

Our Community Sprint event, held for the first time at the GovCMS Week Online last November, was a great success!

We had 12 participants nominate for the event, bringing together a broad range of skills from the GovCMS community. Over the 2 days (6 hours) they were able to collaborate, and share their challenges and ideas on improving their GovCMS experience.

Two groups selected ideas to work on, developing innovative solutions and sharing early prototypes for:

  • Getting Started’ resource for new people coming to GovCMS, and
  • Rapid demo site, default theme and improvements to Out of the Box / content types in GovCMS.

All the challenges and ideas captured are now in a backlog. We will be engaging with the GovCMS community throughout the year to progress them and provide regular updates. Some have already been started!

Participants rated the experience very highly. They were also pleasantly surprised about what could be achieved in 6 hours. Here is what some of the participants had to say.

“It was great to connect and share ideas, and to meet new people in the community.”

“Great to feel that we have some input into the future.”

“Very well organised! Feels like we actually got something useful done.”

“Really enjoyed the breakout session and sharing ideas.”

“Created something that feels actionable.”

“Thanks for putting this on, it was fun!”

Thank you to all those who were involved.  We really appreciate the time and effort you committed to this event.

Based on the positive feedback received, we’ll be hosting another Community Sprint around mid-year. Why not take this opportunity to contribute to the GovCMS program and support further improvements? We would like more from the GovCMS community participating next time so stay tuned, this is an event you do not want to miss!
